THE EMPIRE BEHIND THE EXHIBITION: COLONIAL POLICY IN TURKESTAN UNDER K. P. VON KAUFMAN

Abstract
This article examines the activities of exhibitions and fairs organized in the Turkestan Governor-Generalship during the administration of K. P. von Kaufman within the broader context of the colonial policy of the Russian Empire. Drawing upon historical sources, it analyzes the administrative efforts to establish the Tashkent Fair and explores the creation of the Turkestan Section at the Moscow Polytechnic Exhibition of 1872. Furthermore, the article demonstrates that the scientific and exhibition infrastructure established under Kaufman's administration laid the foundations for the emergence and subsequent development of exhibition activities in Turkestan.
