FROM THE HISTORY OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC-RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF VEGETABLE, POLISH, AND CARTOON CROPS IN THE UZBEK SSR

Abstract
The article examines the history of the Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon, and Potato Crops in the Uzbek SSR and its role in the development of agricultural science and vegetable growing in the republic during the Soviet period. Particular attention is paid to the main directions of the institute's research work related to the breeding and seed production of vegetable, melon, and potato crops, the improvement of agrotechnical methods for their cultivation, and increasing the yield and quality of agricultural products. The main stages of the institute's establishment and development, the organization of experimental research work, the implementation of scientific developments into production, and the interaction of the scientific institution with the collective and state farms of the Uzbek SSR are analyzed. Based on historical materials, the significance of the institute's activities in addressing urgent tasks for the republic regarding food security, the rational use of irrigated lands, and the development of specialized agricultural sectors is revealed. It is concluded that the institute has made a significant contribution to the formation of the scientific base of vegetable, melon, and potato growing in Uzbekistan and the training of scientific personnel in this field.
